Not a long blog entry, but here’s something I found in my web-wanderings that I thought was just amazing. The Digital Journalist published Life Magazine’s 100 Photos that Changed the World.

I keep thinking about all the ways a social studies teacher could use this site. You could do independant research projects with this site where kids had research the photo, looking at the story behind the photo, both with what preceded the photo and the effect it had. You could do a study of how media has changed by looking at the chronology of the photos. You could do a study of what photo-journalism is and how it changed print media.

Those pictures are, in many respects, the memory of the last 100 years.
